Sun's UltraSPARC T1/2 servers are amazing

I completed an upgrade of our production web and app servers a couple of months ago. For webservers we moved from using Sun E250’s to T1000’s and for the application servers (Weblogic) we moved from V880s to T5220. The change in system load has far exceeded expectations!

As an added bonus, the T5220’s, with 3 years maintenance, cost us less than a single years maintenance on theV880’s, and we freed up a lot of rack space.

E250 | T1000 | |

Sun/Oracle T1000/T2000 do not support scadm

I wanted to reset the sc on some T1000’s today (three of them were failing to allow ssh logins - this is a known issue, fixed in firmware 6.7.5. Error is “ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host” ) turns out that, even though the man page gets installed, scadm does not, and does not work with the ALOM variant found on these servers.
There is no way to reset the sc from Solaris.
